How Many Times Do You Eat Tempe in a Week?

In line with the mission and objectives of the FTI, FTI has published a training module on the application of Good Hygienic Practices (GHP) or production of a hygienic manner in the process of tempe production. This module is compiled as a reference in a training that aims to provide insight to participants on how to produce tempe by applying the concept of Good Hyginic Practices, or How the Hygienic Production (CPH) and have the skills to make a variety of processed soybean products and designing nutritional value labels on the products generated. This module has been used in several trainings conducted by FTI fortunately the craftsmen tempe.

To actually implement the theory that hygienic mode of production contained in the module, FTI works with various stakeholders has managed to build some tempe production pilot locations, for example in West Semarang in cooperation with the government of Central Java province and in Kuripan Kidul Pekalongan in cooperation with the municipal government of Pekalongan.

FTI continues to strive to embrace all stakeholders to promote "pertempean" conditions in Indonesia. Recently, FTI, through the American Soybean Association / ASAIM-Indonesia to obtain relief from PT. Sekawan Makmur Bersama (SMB), one of the importers of soybeans to fix the facilities and space and production equipment in the Complex Tempe PRIMKOPTI East Jakarta. Assistance from PT SMB is one form of awareness of the private industrial sector in advancing the tempe and delivered directly to PRIMKOPTI East Jakarta. Implementation of reform undertaken by the contractor appointed and its implementation monitored by the FTI and MercyCorps Indonesia.

At the same time in cooperation with FTI MercyCorps Indonesia conducts extension activities and training on how production hygiene (GHP) to the Tempe craftsmen at this location. This location to plan the future will become a model village of Tempe for the Jakarta area. Efforts FTI are made in shaping the location of tempe pilot in various locations is one example of success in which all stakeholders work together to mutually cooperate to improve and enhance the quality of soybean production in Indonesia.

On 4-6 April 2011, Mr. Michael T. Scuse, USDA Under-Secretary (Deputy Minister of Agriculture United States) have been visited Jakarta. One of the agenda of the visit of Mr.Scuse was visiting the village of Tempe. This visit is an important moment to show that tempe, which is the cultural heritage of Indonesia in the spotlight of a prominent official of a developed country.
